PhD Candidate / Information ScienceUniversity of Washington
Isaac Slaughter
Hello!
I’m a PhD candidate at the University of Washington’s iSchool. My research explores how people navigate information online and how digital platforms can best support them in doing so. I apply novel statistical techniques to large-scale data, and am broadly interested in the effects that digital platforms have on our beliefs and behavior. My recent research focuses on crowdsourced content moderation systems, particularly X’s Community Notes.
I am advised by Dr. Martin Saveski, and previously received my BA in Statistics from Northwestern University. My work has appeared in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, as well as the proceedings of computational social science, natural language processing, and responsible AI conferences like IC2S2, EMNLP, or FAccT. Outside of research, I like to train my dog, drink boba with my fiancé, and hangout with friends and family.
